It has become clear - especially to critically thinking people - that the current path we're on is unsustainable. And the first thought now entering your mind will almost certainly be - well yes, but we've all heard this before! But what is meant here by this term is different!
The way Society - all of Society - currently organises itself is by a small group of elected - if not appointed - individuals, being keen to exercise control on our behalf. To date, these individuals have been referred to as the government. The term govern engenders, for many, the wrong feelings entirely - since a Grown Up Intelligent Society does not require governing. And it is such a Society that we are inviting people to help co-create.
Those wishing to govern others - meaning, exercise their power over others - seek to be elected in a publicly held vote once in every 4, 5 or more years. And those who are elected - in this seemingly democratic way - are the ones expected to run things for Society.
We say, this approach to Society is unsustainable - firstly, because this model hasn't delivered to date what Society actually needs. Secondly - and more importantly - this model is not equipped to deliver what Society needs. There are too few of these individuals and the expectation on them is far too great.
In the UK - only 650 individuals sit at the top table of decision making - and in reality, the number of real decision makers is less than 5% of those 650 elected SMPs [Servant Members of Parliament].
Given the extent of the tasks needing to be dealt with - 30 or so people, realistically, have no chance of making any progress. In reality - it's been short-sighted of our Society to reasonably expect them to.
As of now - it's become abundantly clear to an increasing number of people that Society has no hope of making any kind of progress with the current model. Society requires a different model - one which needs the active involvement of its members.
In addition, our current model has the following flaw:
There has never been an agreed and commonly stated vision for our future. There's no destination - itemised or described - where Society wishes to arrive.
How truly odd that is, but it's true - and always has been. Well-run businesses have Business Plans and Vision Statements - but our Society does not. The goal of COWS is to have Society create and adopt these roadmaps.
If the Case for Change needs a little expansion, then see...
But if not - and you're good to go...
let's consider...

A Grown Up Intelligent Society
where all us caring people
being active participants
and aligned in what's
good, right and fair
is the ONLY society that...
Will CHANGE This!

The answer is - one bite at a time.
